We have decided to choose the song 'The Girls' by Calvin Harris to use for our music video.
We are doing a narrative theme following the lyrics below:
I like them black girls
I like them white girls
I like them Asian girls
I like them mixed race girls
I like them Spanish girls
I like them Italian girls
I like the French girls
And I like Scandinavian girls
I like them tall girls
I like them short girls
I like them brown hair girls
I like them blonde hair girls
I like them big girls
I like them skinny girls
I like them carrying a little bitty weight girls
Now baby (baby)
I've got alot of love to give
And I've been over over-subscribed with relationships
See you've got (you've got)
A little thing I haven't seen before
But I must warn ya
That I can't help but play around for sure, for sure
Because I get all the girls I get all the girls
I get all the girls I get all the girls
I get all the girls I get all the girls
I get all the girls I get all the girls
I get all the girls I get all the girls
I get all the girls I get all the girls
I get all the girls I get all the girls
I get all the girls I get all the girls
Now maybe (maybe)
I can learn to settle down one day
But right now I'm living life to mess around and play
See you've got (you've got)
A little thing I haven't seen before
But I must warn ya
That I can't help but play around for sure
I did it before
(Chorus)
I like them black girls
I like them white girls
I like them Asian girls
I like them mixed race girls
I like them Spanish girls
I like them Italian girls
I like the French girls
And I like Scandinavian girls
I like them tall girls I like them short girls
I like them brown hair girls
I like them blonde hair girls
I like them big girls
I like them skinny girls
I like them carrying a little bitty weight girls
(Chorus)
We are going to be following one main actor as he attempts to pick up different girls, as the song suggests.

The song 'The Girls' is 3 minutes, 56 seconds long. We have devised a plan and story board of shots that will fit this time suitably and effectively and that will compliment the beat of the song.
Our plan is as follows:
We open with a medium shot of the main character in bed. (4 seconds long)
There is a jump to an over the shoulder medium shot of a girl's reflection in the mirror of putting makeup on (3 seconds)
This then jumps to 5 similar shots of girls putting make up one. (Each lasting 3-4 seconds, with the final one lasting 6 seconds)
We then track the main actor as he gets out of made. The medium shot of him getting out of bed is made into an extreme close up as he walks past the camera. (7 and 8 seconds)
The camera will then pan the actor as he walks in and out of the bathroom, the mis en scene will change as he exits with a different outfit on, symbolising the passing of time. (6 seconds)
There will be a close up from behind of the actor putting on a headband. (9 seconds)
There will then be a medium close up of the actor putting on sunglasses (4 seconds)
Over shoulder shot to a close up of a mobile phone writing a text (4 seconds)
You will then see all the girls receive the text message. (Either 1 seconds shots x 7 or a split screen shot, lasting around 7 seconds)
We will then have the actor walking down a road being joined by all the girls. It will be a long reverse track shot. (30 seconds)
One by one the girls enter and exit the frame and sit on the bench with the actor. (30 seconds)
The actor will then appear right of screen sitting on a sofa on the phone (3 seconds)
This will jump to a wide establishing shot of all the girls walking around the garden on the phone (5 seconds)
Then a medium/long shot of the actor leaning against a window, the other side from the girls. ( 3 seconds)
We the jump back to the sofa shot, but this time the actor is surrounded by all the girls. (4 seconds)
There will then be a wide shot in the bedroom with the actor and the bed, again surrounded by the girls. (3 seconds)
Jump back to the same garden shot with the girls. (4 seconds)
Jump back to the same window shot with the girls. (4 seconds)
Jump back to the same sofa shot with actor alone. (4 seconds)
Then we will have an over the shoulder long shot of all the girls standing in front of the actor. We want to cut the shots quickly and arrange them randomly. (About 1/4 of a second x 45? shots)
You will then see the same shots, but lasting for one second. The last shot of the girl will carry on for 4 seconds as a close up.
Back to the garden with a tracking shot following the actor walking around the girls (13 seconds)
A reverse tracking shot, looking back from the main actor surrounded by the girls, close up developing to a wide shot. (8 seconds)
Panning shot around the circle of girls. (4 seconds)
Panning shot of the same shot but going from a high to low angle and tilting up into the sky. Fade out and titles. (9 seconds)
We have listened to the song and tried to fit our shots so that they will change and develop with the beat, but also so that we will have a variation of shot lengths and shot types.
A summed up, detailed synopsis will follow soon.
